Psychological Image of a Medical Professional as a Component of Social Level of Image in Healthcare

The article presents the results of studying the psychological image of a medical worker. The
psychological image is understood by the authors as a component of the social level of image
in the health care system. The psychological image of a medical worker contains a certain set of
professionally signifi cant qualities, including communicative, emotional – volitional, intellectual
personal qualities. Research method: Ch. Osgood’s semantic diff erential. The empirical base of the
study was 126 doctors and patients. A quantitative and qualitative analysis of the profi les of the
psychological image of medical workers in diff erent objects of assessment (doctor and nurse) was
presented. The study showed the formed psychological images of a doctor as a person with well–
developed communicative and intellectual personal qualities, a nurse as a person with prevailing
communicative, emotional and volitional qualities.
